The Flank
To the rear of the side, closer to the tail, live’s the flank.
This is the part of the bird’s body between the wing and the leg.
Many specie’s have distinctive mark’s, and the feather’s or pattern’s here, which can be hidden if the wing is folded.
This Red-flanked bluetail has Orngish-Red flank’s.
