Turn on the light in the oven
5 cups flour
5 cups warm water
2 cups warm milk
1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup shortening
3-4 teaspoons salt
8 cups flour
1/2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons margarine
1 tablespoon cream
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
This is my recipe.
This is how we made them:
2 cups warm milk
1 1/2 cups warm water
1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons yeast
3/4 cups butter
2 teaspoons salt
Enough flour to make a soft dough that does not stick to your hands ( about 4 cups )
Mix all ingredients in mixer. Keep out about half the flour ( 2 cups). Mix until smooth. Cover and let rise until double. Take out of mixer bowl and put into large bowl. Add the rest of the flour and knead until dough is soft but not sticking to hands. Cover with tea towel and put into oven with light on. When double in size, punch down the dough and divide into 2 halves. Roll out 1 part of dough, smear with generous amount of very soft butter. Then sprinkle with brown sugar. Roll up dough and cut into 12 equal parts. Grease 9x 13″ pan with generous amount of soft butter. Sprinkle with brown sugar and pecans. Put the 12 rolls into pan. Preheat oven to 350. When rolls are double in size bake for 25 minutes.
Enjoy!
