Heavy Horses
Stand BACK!
Heavy load coming through!
Think BIG when it comes to the heavy horses.
These hard workers have carried large loads throughout history. They have massive hooves that spread the horse’s weight.
They have very powerful back and neck muscles that help with pulling and carrying things.
They also have long, thick hair that created a feathered-look over their feet.
Heavy horses can pull up to 5 metric tons.
That’s about the weight of an elephant!
The most common breed of heavy horse is the shire.
It is usually black with white fur by its feet.
It comes from England.
They are gentle horses.
