*Belle’s Classic Winter Porridge*
*One of Belle’s favourite breakfasts is a warm spiced porridge with brown
sugar and dried fruits. She even picks the berries herself! *
*Ingredients*
*4 cups milk*
*2 cups old fashioned oats*
*1 1/2 cups dried fruit mix (like raisins, apricots, and cranberries)*
*1 1/2 teaspoons tsp cinnamon*
*1/2 tsp ground ginger*
*1/4 tsp nutmeg*
*1/4 tsp ground cloves or allspice*
*1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract*
*1/4 cup brown sugar*
*2 cups water*
*chopped nuts for topping*
*Directions*
*1. With an adult’s help, warm the milk over medium heat in a large
saucepan. Stir in the oats and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring
constantly.*
*2. Stir in the fruit, spices, vanilla extract, brown sugar, and water.
Turn the heat down to medium-low and simmer for 5 more minutes.*
*3. Portion out into 4-6 bowls. Top with additional dried fruit and chopped
nuts.*
*Tip: You can add a tablespoon of your favourite jam or even a splash of
eggnog for different flavours!*
