On Tuesday we learned a bit about how the railroad was really important and the governments of Canada and the United States decided to build it farther west.
Then, some people from the big eastern cities decided to move west where there was more land for farming.
Of course, Indigenous people were already there (and had been for many, many years) and the Pioneers were often very mean and terrible to the Indigenous people whose land they stole. We will learn more about that next week.
For today we learned about the journey west for the people who moved from the east to the west.
