The Journey West:

“What a terrible growingseason we have had this year! My family has barely survived this winter in Virginia. The land did not produce enough crops to keep my family eating. I know that when we make it to Texas, everything will be better. The journey willbe difficult, but it will be an adventure for us all. We will own our farm in Texas. The fertile land will provide plenty of crops for my family to eat. Ibet the land will be great for hunting too. I am hoping for a better life in Texas.
