Animal’s in Kenya

Cheetah’s can run very fast. In only 3 seconds they can go from standing

still to running 114 kilometers an hour.
That’s faster than a car on the

highway, CRAZY! They are also the only big cat that can’t roar.
In steadthey can purr, or even chirp like a bird.*

Impala’s *are a kind of antelope.
They can’t run as fast as a cheetah, but

they can jump! They can jump 10 feet in the air or 33 feet forward, that’s

twice as high as Ellie is tall, I am 4 and 10 inches tall. or as long as more than 6 of her lying down!*

Flamingo’s:
Flamingo’s may be Pink, but they’re not born that way!
They are born with the White, and then get their colour from the shrimp and algae that they eat. An adult greater flamingo weighs 2-4 kilograms.

A great example of this is the
flamingo.

Giraffe’s may have much longer necks than people do, but there’s the same amount of bone’s in your neck as a giraffe- seven of them. A newborn giraffe is around 6 feet tall, taller than a lot of adults! They also have purple

tongues. We have 206 bone’s in our bodies. That is ALOT of bone’s

*Hippos *spend up to 16 hours a day in the water, but they don’t swim,

they just walk along the bottom.*

*Elephants* *live in family groups led by the females. Their herds can have

up to 100 elephants! They are over 15 feet tall. That’s three times as tall

as Beth!*

*African fish eagles **have very good eyesight. Not only can they see long

distances, they can also see more colours than we can!*

*The big five is a name that hunters gave to some of the most dangerous

animals in Africa- lions, elephants, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo. *

*You can see all these animals in Amboseli National Park. It also has
glaciers, grasslands, lava flows, marshes, and a great view of the tallest
mountain in Africa. Mount Kilmanjaro is almost 6 km tall, that’s pretty tall!”
