My ELA Answer: I have been to Tennessee many times and really love it there. My daughter, Ellie, may not know this but I actually went to college in Tennessee even before I knew Richie, her dad. One of my memories of when I was in college in Tennessee was when my friends and I slept in a cotton field one night. We brought our sleeping bags and slept in the back of a truck. We could see the stars in the sky and the cotton was also very beautiful! Since cotton doesn’t grow in Canada, it was the first time I had ever seen fields of it!
Another memory of Tennessee that I have is celebrating Christmas with Southern Grandma, Southern Grandpa and Uncle Jonathan. I especially loved it when Ellie was little and got very excited opening up her toys and gifts! I was always happy to have warmer weather at Christmas too, since it is very cold in Manitoba in December!
My last memory of Tennessee is going to Dollywood a couple of years ago. It was extra special because it was the first time we had travelled since the pandemic broke out. The weather was beautiful and so was the park. I really enjoyed all the music, especially when we listened to the concert at the little church.
