– Joined Confederation in 1867

– Ontario joined Canada because they needed to be better protected from the US and France. They also wanted more trading options, especially with Quebec. Joining Canada would also help them with selling and buying goods and being part of the Canadian railroad system.

– An important person from Ontario in 1867 was John A. MacDonald. He was Canada’s first Prime Minister.
