ROSE FORTUNE
– Rose was born on March 13, 1774 in the United States.
She died in 1864
Rose was 90 year’s old, when she died.
That was a long time that Rose lived for.
Rose was born in my BIRTHDAY month.
That was so very COOL.
-Rose’s parents were slaves in the US but wanted to move to Canada to be free. They fought for England in the Revolutionary war and afterward, were given land in Nova Scotia
– Rose needed a job when she was an adult but there were no jobs for Black people.
So, she started her own business!
Rose was just like Ellie Boggs and her dad Richard Boggs, they started her Bookmark Store!
– Rose’s business was to get suitcases from the boats and brought them to the hotels for people. It was a very SUCCESSFUL business!
– Rose was also the first Black police officer in Canada.
She made sure people followed the law.
