The History of Disney World!

In the year of 1959 Walt
Disney started to do the
planning for
Disney World to
be the one that wanted to be built.
The year of 1959 was a very LONG TIME AGO.
It was even before I was born.
That is so very COOL.

The Disney Land in California
had opened four
year’s before that,
in 1955, and had been very successful so Walt
Disney wanted to open a new park
in the Eastern
part of the United
state’s, because the more people lived there than lived in
the West.
The year of 1955 that was a very LONG TIME AGO.
It was even before I was born.
That is very COOL.

Walt Disney wanted to keep everything a secret for as LONG
as possible, so
when they started
buying the land in
Florida to become the Disney World, they bought it in small pieces, a bit
at a time, and used the fake
company name’s
to buy each piece.

You can see some of those fake
company name’s
in the window’s at Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom.

In the of 1965 Walt Disney
finally announced to the
world that a new theme park was being built, but
he died that same year, before it
could be finished,
so then his brother, Roy Disney took over the park
being built.
The year of 1965 that was a very LONG TIME AGO.
It was even before I was born.
That is so very COOL.

In the year of 1967, they
started to be building the park.
The year of 1967 that was a very LONG TIME AGO.
That was even before I was born.
That was so very COOL.

The land that they bought was mostly swamp, so the first thing that they had to be done was fill it in, and so then after
that they could start construction.

Before they built the park, they put some of the
secret tunnel’s, under the ground for the people who worked in the park’s to use so NO
one would be seen walking
through an area, so that didn’t match, the theme of their costume.

They called the tunnels utilidors.

In the year of 1971, the first
part of the park
was finished which included the two hotels, part
of the monorail, and the Magic
Kingdom.
The year of 1971 was a very LONG TIME AGO.
That is so very COOL.
It was even before I was even BORN.

Some of the ride’s at
Disney World when it opened
were IT’S A SMALL
WORLD, and the jungle
cruise, and the peter pan’s flight, and the haunted mansion.

The Disney the park first
opened.

In 1976 a new water
park it was called: the River Country it opened up at Disney
World, it is alway’s adding and
changing and removing things, so then lot’s of the ride’s are different than they were when World, but it’s gone now because NOT ENOUGH of the people were visiting it any more, and
when it first
opened it was
called the Village
Marketplace
shopping District.

Walt Disney had wanted to build a city to use as a model for
citie’s of the future in the park, but that got
canceled after he died.

Later though, they used
a lot of his ideas
for that city to build Epcot, which stand’s for the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.

Epcot opened in 1982. When it opened they extended the
monorail, which is now cover’s over 14 miles.
The year of 1982 was a very LONG TIME AGO.
It was even before I was born.
That is so very COOL.

In 1989, Hollywood
Studio’s became the next park to open.
It was part theme park, and part production studio, which then
mean’s that they used
to make the movie’s
there.
The year of 1989 was a very LONG TIME AGO.
It was even before I was born.
That is so very COOL.

Disney’s two water park’s
that are still there, came next.

The Typhoon Lagoon
also opened in
1989 and Blizzard
Beach opened in
1995.

The last
park to open was
