Democracy & Immigration
Immigrants are people who move to Canada from a different country. Not all countries are democracy so sometimes immigrants come so they can be free. Immigrants come from all over the world! My dad is an immigrant. He moved to Canada from the United States. Here is a picture from when my dad became a Canadian citizen.
Being an immigrant isn’t always easy. It can be a culture change and sometimes immigrants don’t speak English. In Canada, they can take English classes and get help finding a job. It doesn’t matter where people come from or what they believe, they all have the same rights in a democracy like Canada.
Immigrants also help make Canada a better country because they bring diversity and different cultures. I especially love trying different food! My mom loves Chinese and Thai food, I love French crepes and my dad loves butter chicken and naan, which is food from India! Living alongside people from different countries and cultures makes my life better.
