Christmas traditions in the USA are diverse, varying from family to family.
For most people, family members come together to decorate the christmas
tree, sometimes on Christmas eve. Christmas dinner includes roast turkey,
vegetables, potatoes, cranberry sauce and cake. After dinner the children
hang stockings on the mantelpiece. If they have been good all year, Santa
Claus will fill them with presents. First thing on Christmas morning, the
kids run to the christmas tree to see what Santa brought them. Many
children leave cookies and milk out for Santa and carrots for his reindeer.
Santa goes out on his sleigh, pulled by nine reindeer, to deliver presents
to children all over the world. He often enters houses through the chimney.
Most Americans decorate their homes for Christmas too, and there are lights
everywhere. Sometimes neighbours compete to see who has the best
decorations.
