Ingredients
FOR THE CAKE:
#1. 2 cups flour
#2. 2 cups sugar
#3. 1/4 teaspoon salt
#4. 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
#5. 2 sticks butter
#6. 1 cup boiling water
#7. 1/2 cup buttermilk
#8. 2 fresh eggs
#9. 1 teaspoon baking soda
#10. 1 teaspoon vanilla
FOR THE ICING
#1. 1/2 cup pecans
#2. 1 stick butter
#3. 4 tablespoons cocoa
#4. 6 tablespoons milk
#5. 1 tablespoon vanilla
#6. 3 cups icing sugar
DIRECTIONS:
#1. Wash your hand’s before you do some baking, that is SO VERY IMPORTANT.
#2. Get a aprin to where, because you mite end up geting messi.
#3. Get some oven mitts to where when you are putting food into the oven.
#4. DONT BURN YOUR SELF.
#5 Note: My Mom used an 18×13 sheet cake pan.
#6. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
#7. In a saucepan, melt butter. add cocoa, stir together.
#8. Add boiling water, allow mixture to boil for 30 seconds, then turn off the heat.
#9. Pour over flour mixture, and stir lightly to cool.
#10. In a measuring cup, pour the buttermilk and add beaten eggs, baking soda, and vanilla. #11. Stir buttermilk mixture into butter/chocolate mixture. Pour into sheet cake pan and bake at 350-degrees for 20 minutes.
#12 .While cake is baking, make the icing.
#13. Chop pecans finely.
#14. Melt butter in a saucepan.
#15. Add cocoa, stir to combine, then turn off heat. #16. Add the milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar, stir together. #17. Add the pecans, stir together, and pour over warm cake.
#18. Cut into squares, eat, and totally wig out over the fact that you’ve just made the best chocolate sheet cake.
