A wren is a tiny bird with an upward-pointing tail and makes a lot of noise for its size.
It makes a clear “teck, teck” warning sound as it hops around in undergrowth.

You can also listen for the wren’s sweetly trilling song, which is one of the first to start singing in the morning.

Wrens are found in woods, hedges and gardens.

They eat spiders, insects and seeds.

Wrens make nests in holes in walls and trees.
They lay 3-7 white eggs with spots at a time.

Male and female wrens looks the same and are about 3 1/2 inches long.

Male wrens build several nests in spring and the female gets to choose the one she likes.

There are wrens in Manitoba.
